Steak

Is in BIG trouble.

We weaned him for 3-4 weeks and he's still drinking off mom, anyone want year old milk feed veal then?

We've got him separated again now which means a whole lot of bellowing going on in the yard, but he'll steal her new calves milk so he needed to be separated right away.

We'll have to send him off sooner then planed, although we haven't really figured out what that's going to be. For now he's enjoying the sacrifice paddock, the goats & sheep are locked in the barn (can't let them out without also letting steak out), and I'm hauling water buckets to the animals in the big paddock.

For once I'm not going to complain about this crazy weather, I'm glad we've had a thaw!

The cows should be due any time from a few weeks ago to a few weeks from now, so we're waiting, impatiently!

The turkeys finally have names, given their ghoulish appearances but friendly demeanour I've decided to go with.

Egg-Salad

Simple, Delicious.

The one problem with having fresh eggs is that they are harder to peel when hard-boiled then older eggs. It's really not much of a problem; but I do try to cook up the ones that are oldest (usually only a few weeks) when making one of my favourite lunches.

Egg salad is pretty simple, hard-boiled eggs & mayonnaise, then whatever you like. Dill works really well but my absolute favourite is a little hot curry powder.

Dirty ducks

I realized, while feeding tonight, the reason the sheep's heated water bowl is always so dirty is that the ducks have been using it as a teeny-tiny hot tub!! I caught both Delilah & Lewie in the post-coital moment, with Delilah soaked to the bone (she seems to have an issue not having enough oil) and Lewie with a ridiculous grin on his ducky face (okay I may have been imaging that part).
