The slushy snow only lasted a day but mother nature is making a fool of us all for thinking it was spring!

Little duck prints in the snow are even cuter then big duck prints in the snow!

Everyone is hungry and excited to see the hay wagon.
We've run out of bales so we've got more coming today, will have to order jut a few more for next year.

This is all hay that got stuck under the pallets from the goats jumping in the hay,
there is lots more left in there but it's really time-consuming to get out to the animals.  

Thor & Megs have a really acrimonious relationship these days.
Meg has always been very dominant and will push any of the other animals off "her" food, Thor has taken exception to this. So any time she puts her ears back at one of the other critters he puts the run to her. 

She's not trying to kick him, actually she's quite intentionally aiming high over Thor's head, she's far more scared of him then she's letting on.

Heat in March

 We're all trying to cope the best we can with this heat upswing. In June 25C wouldn't be a big deal, but we had snow on the ground last week & we're all sweating!!

Trying to find someone to come shear Billy & Andy really soon. If it gets cold again I'll make them sweaters, but for now the poor things are just dieing in the heat!

Duck Nest!!

Not exactly the best place, but also not the worst. She's tucked away where the cows are unlikely to step on her, but we'll have to move her & the ducklings as soon as they hatch. Cows don't look where they step!


8 Eggs so far!! That's probably all she's going to lay right now but it is possible she'll have more. If the other ducks were laying I'd sneak those babies in too but I can't find any other nests.

Not pleased with me for fussing with her!

Ducklings are due April 11th (muskys take about 35 days to hatch).

Snow & Ice

Snow Storm

Finally, Finally!! We got some snow. About 10" of it in 24 hours in fact!

Actually we had a terrible ice rain storm first for about 12 hours which coated everything in ice, and then a HUGE snow storm.

There are ponies out in that field, somewhere...

Farm sure is beautiful in the fresh snow!

Can we come in the house? PLLLEASE?

Meg's dumped rain sheet
frozen solid!

Megs dumped her rain sheet sometime over night, so she's covered in icicles. I briefly considered going out with my little portable hair-dryer, but there was no way she was standing still for that one! So she's got her winter blanket on instead.

Indiana

We had some visitors over the holidays, this is my father's 11 year old Golden Retriever Indiana (or Indi) enjoying farm life for a few days! If you've ever met her, this is extremely fast for Indi to run (she's retired).

Thanks to my brother for the picture, I've got to get this one framed!
